It's hard to believe, but it was March 1, 1998 - ten years ago - that Arjan died. I am planning to spend the weekend, 3/1 and 3/2, out at Box and car camp Saturday night, perhaps at the campground on top, just before the gate. If conditions are good, I'm sure I'll be in the air.

I`ll be there, like we did a few years ago. I miss my old friend.

Thanks for the reminder.
The world would seem like a different place if he were still with us.
A better one.

Saturday Morning's forecast is looking perfect for Box, for HG or PG, all day. Top of lift not looking like it did last night, more around 8-9Kft in mid afternoon, but the strong winds they were predicting from last night are gone. Should be perfect 8-10kts from the NW all afternoon with a perfect Glassoff.

I'm sure if Arjan was in a position to do something about the weather for us today- he has.

Fred and I will be in the LZ, probably 1-2pm. C'mon out!

I'll be there

Saturday looked good to fly from the peak.
We hiked up to fly from Arjan`s peak. We had a window in the morning for an hour, we missed it! Rick got up to launch in time to see the ssw winds return. Met Ed at launch.
Around 2:30pm,Shane and I hiked down to check out the conditions at the hang gliding launch. It looked switchy and strong. I cut with the chainsaw for a half hour along the road out to launch. Spring cleaning accomplished! Shane and Rick helped me clear the roadway of catclaw and mesquite. That done we headed back up to launch around 3:30.
Conditions did not improve. I flew Rafaels Falcon off around 5:15. Lift was abundant. Climbed to 2K over, boated around. I couldn`t help but think of Arjan. Winds over the top were still 16 to 18 SSW. After an hour aloft I landed down front. It was still a little gusty, at sundown.
Met Scott in the LZ,Red walked up shortly there after with a cold one.
We sat around the fire ,Scott, Red and I for a while talking about Arjan.
I was dissapointed I missed John,Fred,Justin and Morey earlier.
Good day
Eric
