Looks like a lovely day this Saturday. Let's hop off Miller.

Suitable for all wing types, with or without aluminum.

Carr Canyon Road IS open.

[/
UPDATE:
Doesn't look like we've got a critical mass of interested Miller goers. Just me and Randy. So, if no more takers, we may cancel. Eric, John, Whitney are all going towing at Houser Rd.

It's going to be light tomorrow. Could be a nice day to hike Box with our PGs.

Andy? Terry? Ed? Fred? Lew?

I've got some visiting friends in town, so I'm trying not to schedule this weekend until I talk with them tonight (Friday). They like hiking so I was thinking I might suggest a hike up Box.... what could be more fun than that? When I know my plans, I'll post.
Thanks, Ed

I`ll be picking up John L around 0700 and heading for Houser road in Casa Grande. Hope to iron out some towing techniques, any one interested your welcome to tag along. Come this spring we should be able to fly part way home from there!
I`ll most likly be doing some tandems.
We will be availble to tow any other qualified SAHGA members as well as get you qualified.

Come on out- we`ll tow you up, you`ll have to find your own way down!
( Sure could use some tow tec`s and drivers as well as pilots)

Good luck at Box it shoud be low enough AGL to be soarable in the afternoon sun! (Don`t think the top of lift will go anywhere`s near 7700!)

Would a few AHGA PGs do the trick

Hi Morey,

Myself, Chandler and a few more AHGA PGs are thinking of coming down to Miller tomorrow. How many are needed to swing the car pool/shuttlle??

We have a possible driver, but he heard roads were bad on top and he can't hike far. What are conditions like?

Are there plans to fly Sunday too (as we may stay in town)?

Oh and Chandler was wondering if Ross is around?

Thanks,
Scott

Wind conditions look Southerly on Sat, not launchable for PG. East south east at 15 mph on Sunday! not a good bet for AT in a PG.

Chandler. Sorry- just got home and it's probably too late to call. I'm happy to do Miller in the morning or Box in the afternoon. Saturday is looking light and irritable. If we go to Miller, it will be launchable, but light. If we go to Box in the afternoon, same deal. Launchable but light. Probably extended sledders, maybe some good scratching for a while.

Sunday could actually be pretty good at Miller. Eric noted it might be a bit strong for PG. I think it has a good chance of being perfect SE. Will know more after tomorrow's soundings. Sunday's my family day- so I can't fly, although it's definitely looking like the better day.

the Miller road is 2WD up to the gate, and then a pretty easy 4WD for 3/4 mi to the launches. You could hike it easily enough from the gate in about 15-20 min.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Looks like we're going to try a bit of frostbite on Mingus early today.

The rest of the weekend remains "up in the air." he-he

It's now looking decidedly from the East today, a good 6 knots, with a much better soaring forecast than the past few days. It would be good at Miller, if we had any takers. I guess I'll enjoy the warm sunny weather on my motorcycle.

We did do some towing- several pilots flew-Orwin-John-and I.
We were able to get in 13 tows several over a thousand feet. Stable air with a few little thermals-half a wing span sized. Took Taylor, Orwins 9 year old son up twice too 1200 agl! Whitney came out and we towed to 1500 AGL! Rafeal and I also got a tandem in! Now thats some serious weight! Orwin launched twice and John flew three times!
Reese drove all day long, great job thanks, Allen came out to get us up too speed and tow tec- thanks
Great day towing lots of fun thanks everyone! ( Film at 10)

Yesterday was great! Thanks to everyone for making my dad feel comfortable, he really enjoyed himself and was impressed by all of you. I found it so difficult to leave but it was enough sun for him. The tow was the best yet for me Eric, look forward to it again soon. Thanks for making sure we all have our airtime.

Yeah, we had a great time. I got three tows and am finally starting to feel comfortable at it once again. Thanks, Eric!

I've posted pictures of the day at album_cat.php?cat_id=9&sort_method=pic_ ... C&start=35

Also I got four usable videos of the flights, which I've posted on YouTube.

Here's Eric Smith on a solo check flight in the tandem Falcon
