If conditions are good, I'll be trying to fly on Saturday. Looks like Mustang or Box could be good.

Looks like Mustang could be ridge soarable both Saturday and Sunday.

Knowing that there would be no thermals popping because it was so overcast, and noticing that the winds aloft, though fierce, only increased at about 5 mph per 1000 feet (and knowing that I'd never get more than a couple hundred feet over launch, if that), I went ahead and flew Mustang today. Not without a decent amount of waiting to make sure that the winds weren't in the habit of suddenly changing, mind you. When I first got there it was 5-15 on the ground, but it died down significantly and it was about that same magnitude at the top when I got there.

It was a beautiful day for ridge soaring at the 'Stangs. I believe it was my longest flight ever, actually. 95 minutes. I popped over to the biscuit and back several times. Love that little guy. Couldn't make it to Bruno though, as the wind had a big S component to it. The air was pretty laminar, never really surprised me. Fingers sure were freezy though! I had to warm up in my car for ten minutes or so after the flight.

I'm starting to get hugely infatuated with Mustang!

Wyatt,
Way to go, Wvatt!! I should have gone to Mustang instead of Xmas shopping for grandkids and great grandkids. Yes, Mustang is hard to beat - and when you get to soar Bruno- or go XC - you will really be sold. Congratulations on your super flight!

Good for you Wyatt!
Thought about the Stones- there just wasn`t enough wind to really do it!

Glad to here someone flew in Southern AZ.

Good for you Wyatt. I'm glad you had such a great flight.

It can get crazy windy at Mustang. Be careful.

Ask Lew to tell you about the time I was almost blown OTB.

Yeah, you actually told me about that the first time I was there. I definitely took that into consideration and spent 90% of my time so far upwind of the peak that I could execute a downwind turn slowly without worrying about coming close to it.
