Dear SAHGA members and club supporters,

The opportunity to represent our club at as the Tucson community comes together will soon be upon us. This year the walk up "A" mountain will be March 2nd, meeting at the Pima Community College parking lot at 0730.

Registration is $40, and, weather permiting, we will fly down. Last year, Terry, Steve Convas, and myself (Lane Lamoreaux) launched our paragliders from above the "A" launching to the north.

The requirements to Fly "A" mountain is; club membership, P3/H3 rating, and sign the city of Tucson waiver. I'll bring these waivers to the next club meeting.

To earn our T-shirt for the event we need at least 10 participants

The last date to register and receive the customized t-shirt, with the SAHGA logo, will be Feb. 8th.

There are only two more days to fill out our 10-person minimum to get custom t-shirts with the SAHGA logo. We need 5 more participants. Please consider joining the SAHGA team to help us make the goal.

OK, now we need just one more.

I just spoke to the ACS local coordinator for the A mountain climb. They were already aware that Lane had been injured, and took the initiative by using last year's SAHGA logo to order the event t-shirts. I'll be picking up the shirts when they arrive and will distribute them on the morning of the walk.

We'll be meeting in the west parking lot of Pima Community College, 2202 West Anklam Rd. in Tucson, around 7:30 AM. Look for us near the front of the lot where teams are gathering.

This year there will be a pancake breakfast served by Walmart at the top, Eegee's will be serving slushes, the Tucson Firefighters will be grilling hot dogs, the Cortiva massage folks will be there, and there will be music and a DJ. Should be a great time!

I picked up the event T-shirts today. They are a lovely shade of traffic-cone orange with black logo and lettering - very visible! I'll have them when we meet in the parking lot of PCC west at 7:30 AM.

We had a successful event, with 10 sign-ups and 7 show-ups. A special shout-out to Steve Konves and his wife Elizabeth, who drove down from their home in Mesa to participate.

The full list of walkers was: Steve and Elizabeth Konves, Rafael Ramirez and Debbie Hodge, Whitney Todnem, Eric Smith and me.

Eric got a chance to fly the WW Condor off the SE launch for a slightly-extended sledder. A bit later Steve found it blowing in east at the top of the 'A', ran down to get his PG, but by the time he was back and set up it had gone northeast and it never came back. So unfortunately he didn't get to fly for all his trouble.

Still, it was a beautiful day, a nice walk with friends, and pancakes, Egees and hot dogs at the top. Thanks to everyone who supported this annual effort whether you were able to make it to the walk or helped out with sign-ups. This is a big part of our visibility to the community and the parks department.
