Dixon White Fly-in

We had a lot of fun over the weekend at the Dixon White Memorial Fly-in at the Craters. A record number of Tucson pilots (10) were present. Most of us camped at the base of Sheba and enjoyed a couple of cold (34.7F) starry nights.
The weather wasn't ideal but we had amazing sunset sled rides on Friday and Saturday. The thermals were weak on Saturday but some of us (me) got up to 9000' and made an XC attempt and ended up landing at the campsite. Some of us didn't make it all the way and had to land on the side of Sheba and kite their wing all the way to camp
Sunday was a strong day with winds at 14 mph. We have witnessed the most interesting "sling-shot" launches in the beginning of the day, followed by a combination of a ridge-soaring-thermal flights. Some pilots trailed long white streamers in memory of our friends that are no longer with us.
Overall an epic weekend with some of our eaglets getting their first altitude flight. Congrats!
