Mustang, Nov 5,6,7 & 8?

Post by lewsmith » Thu Nov 05, 2009 9:46 am

I am going to Mustang today, Thursday, November 5 with Jack (a visiting pilot). The next few days might work for Mustang, as it seems that the east wind is finally moving south and southwest.

I will join you today. I'll plan to be at Houghton and I-10 in time to leave there by 1:30 p.m., carrying you, Jack, and whomever else turns up.

Lew, Jack (visiting from San Luis Obispo), and I arrived on launch around 3:30 after a pleasant hike. The forecasts were pretty accurate today as the wind shifted from nearly straight south to straight west over the course of an hour or so.
The glassoff commenced around 4:15, and I launched followed closely by Jack, with Lew joining us 10 minutes later. We flew until sunset in smooth lift. Classic Mustang glassoff.

I'm in for tomorrow, but it depends on whether or not I get my replacement brake lines in the mail today.

Okay guys, got my brake lines so I'm definitely flying on Saturday. It'll be my first time at Mustang, anybody care to show me the ropes?

I will probably fly either Mustang or South Mtn Saturday. I should know in the morning. My telephone is (520) 749-1296 and sometimes I use a cell phone (520) 549-8250.
If I do decide to go to Mustang, I could meet you at exit 275 (Houghton Rd) on I-10 (actually the parking area about 200 yards north of the exit) at 1:30 PM.

Saturday, Nov. 7

I am going to Mustang today (Saturday Nov. 7). The winds aloft look a tad west, but still OK for a launch - and maybe good for soaring Bruno as well as Mustang and Biscuit. I will be leaving earlier than usual and will be at the parking lot north of exit 275 on I-10 (Houghton Rd) at noon in case a pilot (azwyatt??) wants a ride. My cell is (520) 549-8250.
