Visting pilots looking for locals to fly with.

Post by chailove » Tue Dec 14, 2010 6:20 pm

Hey folks,

A group of us from San Diego are coming in for the weekend with the hopes to fly and check out some new sites. We will be in Tuscon on Friday the 19th and will stay through Monday the 20th.

Please give me a call for a weather prediction or if you are heading out.

Cheers :) ,

Do you fly with or without aluminum?

Without aluminium. We are all P4 pilots and generally try not to be douche bags.

Ouch! Morey, you need ot change your avatar to show you go both ways.

Hopefully we'll get a decent Box day and we can all go antagonize each other. :) It looks generally west and fairly decent for Saturday, so we've got a shot.

Friday could be a nice glassoff at Mustang, and Saturday looks good for Box. Me- I'm heading out of town on a ski trip.

Lew- you available for showing some visiting pilots what a AZ sunset looks like from 7kft?

Danielle- we're a club that's friendly to both ways to kill yourself.
If it still looks light SW tomorrow, you'll want to be in the Mustang LZ by 1 or 2 pm at the latest.

Today (Friday) looks good for Mustang for a early afternoon flight. Unfortuneately, I am a bit under the weather (probably too many Xmas cookies) and can't fly today. I am up for Saturday or Sunday. Danielle you can reach me at 520 749-1296 for directions etc.

I have been itching for a good day at box since I have been home! How is tomorrow looking?

I'm in and have another pilot visiting from out of town. How about checking in at 10 am for forecast and make final plans to where we go.

I'm in, but I'm presently undecided between going south (Box or Mustang), north (South Mountain or Shaw), or west (Oatman).

Right now, I am seeing more south and west wind (although it's light) in the forecast than I prefer for Box.

Danielle, you and the San Diego lot can contact me at 520-906-4868.

Let's sort it out in the morning, maybe around 9:00 so we have the option of going about anywhere.

I am also interested in flying somewhere tomorrow, and will keep my eye on the forum tomorrow ~ 9 AM.

A good-sized crew is headed to South Mountain, planning to launch around 1:00 p.m. I'm presently on the fence between SM and Mustang.
I'll decide in the morning.

Surface winds look like they are going to dial around to the nw by late afternoon. Mostly cloudy at 9 am so need to give it a little time to burn this stuff off. I think south mountain would work early but I'm leaning towards Box Canyon. That way were covered for a SW thru NW. So probably not a huge rush to get out of here if my thesis is correct. I'll check back before 10am.

I am planning to be at the BOX LZ at 11 AM and plan to hike up. I don't know if I will try for a launch at the lower knoll or whether to hike all the way up to the top. (I am concerned that Mustang could be blown out and maybe a bit too north.)
