Flying Next Week
Michael- I'm going to be in Hawaii the week you'll be in Tucson, so I'm sorry I'll miss you. Though most flying is on the weekends, there are a couple of folks besides Irina whose schedules sometimes allows them to fly during the week. So just keep an eye on the message board and post when you are a...

Weekend weather
It's not looking good for flying (except maybe backwards) this weekend. It will likely be blown out with scattered showers and gust fronts. But the weather guessers are notoriously bad at forecasting more than 12 hours ahead. So there's no harm in checking the forecast in the AM.

Flying Report
Gunter and I met in the LZ about 12:30. Gunter’s neighbor, Pete, was along to enjoy the hike and a beautiful post-frontal day. There were light NW cycles in the LZ and lighter conditions when we arrived at the first knoll. I set up on the NW side based on the forecast, and Gunter set up on the SW ba...

Box
I think there is a good chance for a glassoff this afternoon - probably will start about the time Gunter has to be on the ground. I'll plan on getting to the LZ about 3:30. I think I'll exercise the motor option. Alan the FSL link is: http://www-frd.fsl.noaa.gov/mab/soundings/java/ You have to put i...

Morning Update
The morning forecast is calling for light NW aloft and on the ground for this afternoon. For Mustang surface winds they're saying East this morning and light NE this afternoon. My recommendation would be afternoon Box. Allan, my forecasts come from a combination of the NWS ground forecast, aviation ...

Saturday Forecast
Tonight's prediction is light north to northeast for Mustang about 1400 tomorrow. If that's right it would be a better Box day late in the afternoon. The best bet would be to check the AM forecast.

Sunday Update
Based on this morning's forecast it's probably a reasonable Box day with a good chance of an evening glassoff if you don't mind a hot hike. If anyone decides to fly I'll probably bring the motor and attempt to access the glassoff that way.

Sunday
I agree. Sunday may be better. It's still too early for a reliable wind prediction. The best thing is to get the update tomorrow morning. The updated winds are ususally posted by about 8AM local time.

Missing Trees
Congratulations on scoring an east coast site. Just two questions: Where are all the big trees, and how come you're not in the picture (after all you're in the Miller Google Earth)?

Saturday Forecast Update
Just got back from an early morning motor flight. The morning winds aloft update is still calling for pretty brisk SW winds that might or might not mellow about sunset. Best of luck Gunter, let us know how the actual conditions turned out. Eric, I'll check this evening's forecast and give you a call...

Saturday Forecast
Based on tonight's forecast, I'd have to agree with the east coast guy, probably blown out unless it mellows enough by glassoff time. Also, it's going to be a hot afternoon hike up anything this weekend. But there's another forecast in the AM. By the way, how's the flying over them eastern trees?

Sunday Update
The morning update is not quite as strong as predicted last night but still too strong for a trip to Mustang. The A might happen again today if you caught just the right window between too light and blown out for the bag wings. As Eric implied, the A is a better HG than PG site because usually when ...
