Eric, thanks for attempting the training hills despite the weather. Glad you and Justin got a little airtime at the Stones.

Training Hill Day!
Unless it's pouring rain, hopefully we'll see everyone out at the training hills tomorrow. Eric is planning on getting started between 0830 and 0900. Winds aloft forecast is SW, and it might be OK for the Stones in the afternoon for those so inclined.

Eric, thanks for setting up another training hill day. We can all use the practice. We'll keep our fingers crossed that the weather cooperates.

Winds
I've checked the NCEP and FSL winds for glass-off time this afternoon. Depending who you believe it's either going to be NW at 14 or NW at 21. The lapse rate is consistent with light high pressure lift. Probably a reasonable afternoon for the stiffies but doesn't look good for the bag wings.

Weekend outlook
Welcome to Southern Arizona. The weather this weekend is not looking very promising for flying. But keep an eye on this message board. If there's a change in conditions and we decide to tempt fate, this is where we'll post our plans.

A Day for Arjan
It was a beautiful day at Box with golden Mexican Poppies decorating the the landing area, billowing white cummies deocrating a clear blue sky, and ravens doing an aerial dance overhead. We all got to experience at least part of the joy the ravens must feel in the freedom and exhilaration of flight....

Sunday
The forecast is looking good for Box this afternoon. Conditions may be too strong for P2's midday but there is a good possibility of a glass-off. I'll probably be out about noon, and Scott said he would be out a couple of hours later looking for a late afternoon / evening glass-off flight.

Training Hill Days
John, thanks for the report and the great pictures. Thanks to everyone for coming out. Special thanks to Jason for setting this up and to Eric for bringing the "Beast" and quiver of gliders. If you didn't see it, take a look at John's midair pictures. There's a lot to be learned from this incident, ...

Training Hill Day - Mark Your Calendar
Vice President Jason is arranging a training hill day tentatively scheduled for Saturday February 26. If there is a major conflict with any other event, please let us know so we can consider an alternate date. Otherwise, come on out; bring anything that flies (stiffies, panties, motors, RC's); pract...

Box Report
Once again Mother Nature didn't read the weather forecast. It was supposed to be light SW in the Valley and pretty strong NW aloft. Irina and I arrvied in the LZ about 1:30 with light cycles blowing out of the NW. We did a leisurely hike up to the first knoll to find the winds there NNW about 10 wit...

Friday Winds
The aviation winds aloft forecast looks strong west. Probably over the back at Miller and maybe too strong for the bag wings at Box. I'll check the updated winds in the AM.

Great Review!
Thanks for the great review Morey. As one of the AARP eligible members to whom you alluded I found it interesting and informative. Given the dearth of reviews in our national mag this could be the only Sport 2 135 review ever writtten.

Flight Report
Gunter and I got to the LZ just before 2PM. It was blowing light out of the west. Since it was still light at the first knoll I elected to hike to the top. Gunter decided he would wait and bench up. When I got to the top it was blowing west 10-15 with some higher gusts. At that time Gunter reported ...

Box
I'll meet you in the LZ about 2PM. If it's light I may hike to the top. My winds came mostly from the FSL forecast.
