My schedule is pretty full tomorrow, but I'll recheck the updated forecast in the morning.

ADDS is light SW.
Soundings model predictions are decidedly SE not SW.
Surface winds point forcast is east and south.

I can't tell.

Yes, the latest predictions don't look as good as they did a day ago. --- Tomorrow might be a better day--- I will probably go to Mustang today AND tomorrow. I will make a decision around noon. I will take my cell phone 549- 8250 as I do errands this morning.

The mid morning update shows SE going to light SW about 4PM. Given a triple digit day and lots to do I think I'll recheck tomorrow afternoon after I get back from UMC.

Report Sept. 28

Post by lewsmith » Tue Sep 29, 2009 8:18 am

I had a nice glassoff flight at Mustang yesterday, Monday, Sept 28. The wind on launch was SW 8 to 16 mph at 4 PM, and 10 to 15 SW at 5 PM. The air was very smooth between 5 and 6 PM. There was not as much lift as I had expected, and I only got 200 feet over the mountain. Around 6 pm the wind aloft picked up to about 20 mph so I went to the LZ and landed in a 6 or 7 mph SW breeze.
I won't be able to fly today --- and it looks too windy anyway.

I checke the soundings prediction around 3 in the afteroon, and it described exactly the conditions you found. Strange that lately, the Soundings FSL model has been so wacko. It offers a lot of precision, but not much in the way of accuracy. At least not recently.
