Flying Nov 7 or 8th.

Post by RossinAz » Fri Nov 06, 2009 8:51 am

A strange celestial event is about to occur this weekend and I would like all to share it with me. I'm going flying- and hold your breath- Jason Otto, Scott Horton, and Lew Smith are in also. Leaning hard to fly south mountain on either day depending on best wx forecast. Anybody else interested?

I'm interested. It's solid overcast right now, but maybe it will clear out by morning.

Please post when you decide about when you're going. I'll check back tonight and tomorrow morning.

forecasts aren't exactly converging for the Mustangs, but South mountain right now looks really really light.

I gots some bad news. The place to fly tomorrow afternoon may very well be Box.

Ok-it's Fri night and it could be very light but Sat looks like lower pressure than Sun. So Let's check in here Sat. morning by 7am. If it looks flyable lets meet at my house (here on the NW side near the freeway) at 9am. Car pool up to South mountain and get an afternoon flight.

I'll be checking in around 6:30 AM Saturday. Swim practive from 7-8AM. If we're hiking up Box, I'll budget 3 hours for the ascent.

If any baggers are interested in flying Box tomorrow pm, I would be happy to pick you up in the LZ and give you a lift to the back side for a shorter hike up to the paragliding launch.

Any takers let me know tomorrow in the AM.

OK- Jason Otto and I are going to South Mountain. Meeting at my house at 9am. 5671 w. El Camino del Cerro (mapquest it). 490-3333. Please RSVP so we don't leave w/o you. Conditions should be light-flying in the heart of the mid-afternoon sun hoping for thermals. Hope to see you there. Ross

Ok, I'll be there by 9. I also heard from Bill Bennett in Phoenix who said he'd come out to drive and check out the site!

The forecast looks light west most everywhere. So could be flyable at all the sites. I think I'll stay in Tucson and check the update a little later. Mustang is still a possibility and I might consider flying it with a gasoline assist.

I am going to Mustang. The wind prediction looks a tad west, but still OK for a launch - and maybe a chance to soar Bruno. I will leave earlier than usual and can pick up a pilot (azwyatt??) at the parking lot north of the Houghton I-10 exit (#275) at noon. My cell is (520) 549-8250.

Special Ed and I (and Wrangler and Jammer) will be at Houghton and I-10 around noon, though we are both consistently late to every appointment.
