Thanks for Box, May 25, rescue

Thanks to all for my Box Canyon rescue. Doc Aaron and Soeen top landed in tough conditions and got the rescue effort going. Gunther called to let Guido (who was in the LZ and unable to communicate with me because my radio broke in the mishap) what was going on. Andy drove up the back side to show the search and rescue ground crew how to get to the upper Box launch. The DPS helicopterarrived sometime around 11 PM and Aaron, Soren and others worked to keep my wing from being blown around. It was wonderful to see all the assistance I was getting, and I really appreciate it.
I am now recuperating at Health South Rehab and daily receive muffins, cookies, birthday cake (actually 2 birthday cakes because of a bit of confusion on the actual date of my birthday) , visitors, and well wishes from many, many flyers.
Thanks SAHGA members,
Lew

Lew, glad you are OK and going to recover. I'll be in Tucson in 2 weeks or so and will drop by to visit.

Lew,

I'm so glad that Soren and I were there to help you. It has really been a pleasure for both of us to fly with you over the last year, and we're sad that this happened to you and that you may not be flying anymore.

You've been an inspiration to us and also to many of the people in the hospital. I can't tell you how many coworkers at UMC approached me and asked about your wellbeing, and mentioned what a great guy they thought you were and how amazing it was that someone your age was out there flying with us.

Hope you're doing well, and I'll call and visit soon.

Lew, I just read about this now. I hope you recover well and will eventually fly again. Aaron said it best, you are an inspiration and I'm going to miss flying with you in the next few months.
