Saturday 9/11 Flying?

Post by morey » Thu Sep 09, 2004 5:28 pm

ADDS and NWS are indicating light East for Saturday. Could be an incredibly stellar Miller Day. (and Chaz says he could be talked into coming out and driving)

Any interest in commemorating 9/11 from 13,000 msl?

Sounds great, I'll be there.

What time are you going to be in LZ?

I might be able to make it, but I can't get there until 0930.

I would like to fly Miller on Sat. I`ll give you a call John.
Some of my students were interested in training in the afternoon.
I would like to fly to the training hill from Miller. It looks like the range will be closed, I`ll call Carl Norge and see.

Today it's light from the NE with a top of lift below 12K. Tomorrow, it's supposed to be a bit stronger, and a bit more E to SE. So, the direction will be better for making it to the training hill, but without a higher top of lift it's gonna' be a serious pucker factor going over the back.

(revised) Yes Eric. Please dream away.
Afternoon weather update is perfect. Looks like tomorrow is going to be a definite Miller day. A real live light eastery flow. We may have to hoof it to the E launches, but we WILL be flying! Can't wait to get into the sky.

So what time is the shuttle going up? I really want to fly Miller, but as I said, can only make it by 0930 unless a car is heading back up for retrieval.

From a launch time point of view. I don't see any reason to be at the LZ before 9:30. Should be blowing in for most of the day, and 11am or so is probably the earliest that I'd be interested in launching. I was thinking of being at Houghton and I10 around 8:15-8:30.

Sound reasonable?

Miller Time

The forecast winds look nice, tho the lapse rate leaves a little to be desired. I can meet anyone at Houghton and I-10 at 8:15. I just have to be home by 5:00.
