Thanks so much for volunteering to Drive, Whitney. That's a bummer about your truck. The forecast for tomorrow is still somewhat marginal for Miller. I'm going to recheck after the evening update. Mustang is also still on the possibility list as the forecast is SW - the only question is how light or...

Forecast
I just checked the evening forecast update and Saturday looks pretty west. I think Sunday holds the best chance for flying. Mustang Sunday afternoon is still also a possibility.

The Trusty Jeep
How about a memorial Miller fly-in for the trusty old Cherokee? It seems like the least we can do in remembrance of all those rides it gave us up to launch.

Weekend Flying
I think it's still too early to tell, but at the moment the forecasts are looking SW both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday looks stronger than Sunday. If the current forecast holds there is a possibility that Mustang could be flyable Sunday - something almost unheard of this time of year. Also, if it's...

I don't think it will be as smooth sailing for the mine as they hope. Though the Forest Service has basically stated they have no choice but to approve the mine, both Representative Giffords and Grijalva have sent letters to the Secretary of the Interior stating that they believe such a stance by th...

Rosemont Mine on AZ Illustrated Friday
I received the following email from Save the Scenic Santa Ritas regarding the Rosemont Mine: Hi All Note that this Friday—Ann Brown of the Arizona Daily Star and Jim Nintzel of the Tucson Weekly join Host Bill Buckmaster on AZ Illustrated on Friday July 24 at 6:30 pm for a conversation about the con...

I'm not completely comfortable with the forecast update for Miller for a bag wing flight. We could be sitting on launch with little wind waiting for cycles to come in, or the base wind could be SE. In either case it's not the best possible conditions for a paragliding launch. So we've decided to pas...

If it's any consolation to the bag wingers, it was probably not launchable at Miller today - brisk SE. However, for those of us with an aluminum alternative it might have been a nice chance to try out the new and improved SE ramp. Tomorrow is looking lighter but also possibly NW. I'll recheck the ev...

Miller
Whitney, why don't you plan on going out with the new students. It doesn't look like we have a critical mass of people for Miller tomorrow and anyway we need to get you some solo flying. Welcome back Guido! Miller can be good for the paraglider this time of year if you pick your conditions carefully...

Weekend Flying?
I haven't figured out what to expect for winds, but anyone interested in flying Miller this weekend? From what I see so far Sunday might be a better day, but I'll check the update this evening.

Morning Update
This morning's forecast is almost as consistently inconsistent as last night - anything from light NW to SE this morning going to light NW to SW this afternoon. So given the equivocal forecast and equivocal interest in flying today, I'll look forward to the return of the monsoon next weekend.
