I`ll be hucking the students off of the Stones early.

Conditions will be good by mid day, so , if your up for it let`s go soar.

I'm there.

Any chance for XC? I've never been over the back at the 'Stones, I'd sure like to manage it one of these times.

I do not like to leave for over the back lower than 12K.
I have gone north on the spine and left at 11K.
If it is windy and the ceiling is below 12K, count on a serious rotor, behind the spine. The range sticks out to the northeast so if you follow the spine and stay with it you can avoid it by being on the crest. If you cross east bound right behind the Red and Gray peaks its a washing machine.
Well see..

Current (mid-day friday) predictions are:

Blowing 20 on launch at the Stones by 11am.
Winds in the air above launch will be 25kts. Not so bad, but not for beginners, who should launch earlier.

By 1pm it will be 25 on launch with winds at 7k over 30kts, and will continue to get stronger.

I've flown in winds like this many times before... and now choose not to.

Note: you will likely be flying in conditions which are building. You may be landing in winds stronger than into which you launched.

or, the forecast might be off by a few kts and it could be perfect. So, don't give up, but be careful. Sunday may be a better choice as it looks 5kts lower.

I'm thinking of going kite flying with my daughter instead tomorrow.
