Eric, are you towing paragliders?

I'de like to get back to that.

I'm ready to go, this weekend is not good for me and if I go this time of year, I would want to start out pretty early.

I assume that if you are posting this on a forum, it's sort of an open welcome to join. I would like to join you guys at it sooner than later and I'm definately qualified to be the operator or pilot. I've done static, designed my own payout, helped others develop theirs and spent lots of time at the end of the string.

You can let me know PM or right here Eric, you are one of the guys who I would like to fly with.

Take care.

All are welcome- however I have not towed a PG- yet!
I have a truck tow system and a scooter tow system on the same trailer, one or either should work?

Towing a paraglider is similar in force to towing up a heavily loaded single surface. You guys are towing tandem HG (I assume) so the system will take the load. Now it's just a matter of the tow operator keeping good watch on the line angle and application of reel in or brake.

Problem with me is that truly, I have literally been a paraglider test tow pilot back in the 80's and I am not going to do that ever again.

Maybe one of the guys who is willing will teach or when I come down, and you have a willing pilot, after my own orientation with your gear, I can show you.

It's not hard.

I do want to get up by towing though, am totally into it.

I'll see you out there around 7:30 or 8:00. Hopefully, I can get a few low tows in to get up to speed. I'll have to blow by 11:30 or so.

Towing Sat 20 June 09

Post by Eric » Sat Jun 20, 2009 9:00 pm

Scooter towed some of my students started around 06:30 till around 09:30.
Set up the surface tow rig and Tandemed a youg lady for her birthday, Riki had fun we towed up to 1600 agl. Glided down and circled in to land right next to her relatives.
Next up was Ian, took him to 1500 agl, 3000 msl under tow. We released and cored up in a good thermal to 4800 msl. I did not want to get to far from the field so we glided back.

We had a blast film at 9!

Here's a video of Ian's tandem flight with Eric:

I'm not able to post photos at the moment, something seems to be wrong with the Album. I'll get with Rick V. and figure out what's broken ASAP.

Great flight Eric . Just wondering if you had your dust devil tow rateing sign off? That makes me want to go towing and do some XC from there.
once you have tasted flight you will forever walk the earth looking skyward for there you have been and there you long to return.
