Re: Flying Sat
Woo-hoo! Monsoon flying - I'm definitely in.
Actually, it doesn't look like a monsoonal push tomorrow, but I'll bet there's still plenty of puffy clouds around. And it's gonna be way cooler on top of Miller than it will be here in Tucson.
I also heard from Preston that he's planning on coming out. Orrin said he wouldn't be able to make it.

Miller flying report
I drove down to Miller with Fred Leonard, and met Eric, Whitney, Preston and Elisha.
It was pretty solid overcast but the wind direction was northeast as predicted. We set up on the north and east launches, and were ready to go around noon.
Fred was first off the north launch in his bright orange and red Falcon, and he immediately got up off the point. He got pretty high for a while but then flew out toward the LZ.
Preston was next, and immediately headed for the LZ, but there he met up with Fred who was thermalling over the last hill behind the LZ, and together they hung out in quirky little lift for a while. Eventually Fred found something and got himself up to 10000 (!). Preston didn't do quite as well, but still got a nice thermalling flight before landing.
A little later I saw Fred coring sink over the LZ. He later said he got concerned about the number of cells dumping all around him and so decided not to play so near cloudbase any more.
Eric and I were on the East and North launches respectively, concerned that perhaps we had missed the flyable window. I finally got a little cycle and took it, but managed only an extended sledder with a few barely-workable thermals under the overcast.
Eric was last off, getting briefly above launch but making a rare mistake got pushed into the canyon (and the rotor) while messing with his harness over the point. He never recovered the altitude and landed shortly after.
So, not a bad day considering the overcast, everybody flew safely. Fred definitely had the flight of the day with his trip to cloudbase. A big thanks to Whitney and Elisha for driving and videography.

Glad every one had a good time. Just seemed wrong to drive up on the Reef with out the BEAST THOU! The white 92 suburban just isn`t the same! What the heck we got there!
Here is the address to my launch in the other T2-
http://sharing.theflip.com/session/601c ... eo/4791588
enjoy- short but sweet.
Had we known that the valley would clear I may have waited to launch.
As it was I felt lucky to get a launch cycle.
PS: Jack Davis showed up on launch camoed out hunting for Bear with a Bow! Talk about a blast from the past!
