A Mt

Post by Eric » Thu Aug 27, 2009 10:05 am

Hi Guy`s a little up date on the A mt lz.

I drove by last week and the mound of dirt in the LZ was being moved. Rafael noticed today that it is all gone! the trees have been removed as well! There are still some pieces of equipment in the field. On the north side of the field the city has built a garden with a 5 foot high wall around it- so approach is definitly a little restricted.

Good news, I think. I'm going to have to drive down there and take a look. I'll post pictures if I get the chance.

I stopped by "A" Mountain at lunch and found heavy equipment grading what was our LZ. It's freakin' *huge*, but I'm afraid
they may be getting ready to landscape it with cactus and other stuff unfriendly to HG/PG. That area is shown as the "Sonoran
Desert Park" on the map at this link:

Here's the LZ from as close as I could find to where we used to park:

<img src="/album_pic.php?pic_id=751" border="0" vspace="10" alt="A Mtn LZ (2)" title="A Mtn LZ (2)">
<img src="/album_pic.php?pic_id=752" border="0" vspace="10" alt="A Mtn LZ (3)" title="A Mtn LZ (3)">

And here's a view from the overlook under the "A":

And here's the map of Rio Nuevo from that link:

you mean, you don't think that the Sonoran Desert Park will consist of 20 acres of manicured lawn?

Hey! It looks like an LZ to me!
It`s never looked this good!

A little up beat please!

Can`t wait to land there after a good soaring flight!
( Even if it doesn`t last)

Just a point of interest - I found my stolen truck just a little bit north of A Mountain off of Silverbell and Alameda. Who knows maybe a pilot could have spotted it for me from the sky...
