Thursday Miller

Thursday looks like a good day for Miller. Eric Smith, Tom Morrison and I are planning on flying. Anyone else want to play hooky?

It turned out to be a real nice day. It was blowing harder than expected on the southeast launch when we got there, straight in but kind of gusty.

Tom Morrison took off around 10:30 for his final flight of this trip to Arizona, got to 8500 or so and about 45 minutes of soaring.

I followed him off around 11 with Eric's much-needed help on the side wires (thanks!), and got to 10300, not cloud base but not too bad. I think I got almost an hour.

After conditions settled down quite a bit Eric self-launched and got to maybe 10000. We flew around in the same thermals for a while, high-pressure and lee-side junky but workable. I left for the LZ before Eric did, having failed to core a thermal in front of the east PG launch that he was able to hook and take back up. He landed a while after I did for maybe 30-40 minutes.

I'm glad I took the day off. Something about flying when you're supposed to be working is even better.

You got that right John.

The old any day of fishing, well flying, is better than any day of working.

It sure was nice to see Tom soaring Miller, enjoyed it myself as well!

Tom and I cleaned up the East launch a little this week as well, following up on John efforts from Sat last. We were able to widen it some-plenty of work left to do!

It`s been fun Tom see you in April A!
