Flying Veterans Day

Post by Eric » Tue Nov 10, 2009 8:25 am

How about flying on 11 Nov 2009 ?

It`s a National Holiday we can reflection on the Americans who have served to protect our freedom.

It would be nice to go flying to celebrate!

Weather forecast looks good for Miller on Wendesday.
I am planning on launching some student pilots.

Come on out and enjoy the pleasant fall weather before it gets cold!

I'm interested.
Most of the forecasts have too much south in the wind for my tastes at Miller, but FSL is currently showing light east.
If it's south, I'll go to South Mountain, but I'd prefer Miller. I'll look again tonight and tomorrow morning. If it looks east, I'll go to Miller.
There is probably no point in being on either launch before noon.
Let's coordinate time and destination here.

SM isn't looking so hot anymore for tomorrow. Winds are right, but not a whole lot of lift. Not nearly as much as was forecast yesterday. There could be enough wind for some ridge soaring though. So if you can do Miller that might be a better idea. I'm actually thinking about doing paramotor at McCartney or PRA instead. But who knows, I'll probably end up doing SM anyway.

This afternoon's forecast is not encouraging.
Do we have a driver for Miller?

The forecasts for Miller are saying SW. I'm leaning toward South Mountain.

We are all headed to South Mountain. Eric will meet his students at the school LZ around 10:30 a.m. I will drop the Yukon at the Granite View LZ and ride up with Eric.
I'll pass through I-10 and Tangerine around 9:15 a.m. if anyone wants to hitch a ride with me.

Wow. A no flare landing. I'll have to try that sometime.
