Miller Saturday? (Report and photos added)

Post by jlowery » Thu Aug 12, 2010 6:22 pm

At the moment it's looking light northeast at 6000 and 9000 on Saturday.

Anyone interested in a Miller run? Maybe meet at Houghton & I10 at 8 AM, LZ by 9-ish?

I'll probably go. Do we have a driver?

No driver yet, but I may be able to find someone.

I'd like to drive but I'm not sure I'll be able to meet you guys on time at 8:00. It would have to be a bit later.

I am also interested, and will check with John Wolfe about riding with him.

I'll collect Terry at 7:30, and we'll be at Houghton and I-10 around 8:00 a.m.

Sounds like a good group, around 6-7 so far.

My Jeep can handle 5 including the driver, so we'll probably need a second vehicle for the drive up. If we only have one driver we can shuttle back up to retrieve the second vehicle.

See you in the morning.

Wind was lighter than predicted (~5 mph) on the NE launch, crossing from the left, sometimes more than 45 degrees. Smooth cycles rolled up the launch but not very frequently. JLo, EricT, Terry, Andy, and I all managed extended sled rides, and we never had more than one pilot in the air at a given time.
Still it was a lovely day, as the valley is really green and the NE launch is in great shape thanks to...both Erics, I think.

I'm doing a newsletter, so just posted some of John and Eileen Langholff's photos from our Miller flights on Saturday, August 14th, so they can be linked to. The limited resolution the album allows really doesn't do them justice, but John sent much larger format originals if anybody wants them for personal prints.
