I have been scouring maps and mountains looking for a west facing legal site in the Santa Catalina mountains. Well I am happy to say that I finally found the site I was looking for. It is an incredibly long hike in on a very rough 4wd road (Sutherland trail). It took us 3 hours with lots of breaks. It has a launch window from 220 to 320*. The landing zone is "challenging" in that it is the road. So this is not a site for the lazy or beginners. It has the potential for pilots to soar up to the main ridgeline and eventually I expect someone to cross the Catalinas. (Gee I hope it can be me). Get with Andy or me and we'll try to guide you on the site. Here is a link to pics.
