Fire in Parker Canyon

Post by John Wolfe » Mon May 23, 2011 1:30 pm

There is a wildfire in Parker Canyon, and it's being fought with air tankers. I've not checked, but I'd guess there is or soon will be a TFR in place around Miller Canyon.

No TFR posted yet as of 8 AM, but the fire is reported to be up to 5000 acres and within 2 miles of the lake. Residents are being asked to evacuate.

Reports at http://www.svherald.com/content/news/20 ... ty-s-skies
and http://www.kold.com/story/14701994/resi ... fire-grows

Carr and Miller peaks are over 8 miles from Parker Canyon lake, so if a standard 5.5 mile TFS is put in place for this fire we should still be able to fly Miller.

Fire has reached 10000 acres but is 45% contained. Closure and cvacuations of Parker Canyon lake are being lifted tomorrow.
