Re: Flying this weekend
Saturday looks windy in the mountains and on the surface down south. But, it looks not too bad for towing from Eloy or Rainbow Valley.
Sunday at Mt. Lemmon or Box might work if the forecast winds do not get any stronger.
Eric and I are planning to talk on Saturday afternoon / evening to make a plan for Sunday.

Hi John,
I would be interested in coming out on Sunday with you pilots. I'll check the board.

The forecast for today was better than the reality, but we flew. Thanks to everyone who came out.
Tomorrow (Sunday) looks very likely to blow out for PG, so I will pass.

Sunday RBV was good... a 2hr flight and a (very) short xc and then 30 more mins later in the aft, followed by 2 flights at sunset throwing the wing around

Re: Flying this weekend
On Saturday we towed in Eloy. Aaron and Aaron brought a winch and a new pilot, Zach, and Mike, Brad (Buzz Balling), and I joined them. Charlie turned up with his winch, and Brad (Chastain), Dustin Pachura (DAP), and Brandon came down from Phoenix. Brad C. and Dustin made it to the DQ across the highway from Picacho Peak. Brandon went north for a hike along the CAP canal. Mike had probably an hour in the air and stayed in the general area. I made three flights, none of which produced any substantial distance, but it was still a very pleasant day of flying from a location that is less than an hour from my house.
We were hoping to get Buzz in the air, but we didn't get out there quite early enough to make it happen. He ended up retrieving those of us who made short excursions away from the towing paddock, as well as the two pilots who went for ice cream. Brad, thanks again for all your help. We will get you in the air first next time we go out.

Re: Flying this weekend - Box
Eric, Rafael and I spent some time in the morning cleaning up the bailout LZ. It was still early so on the way up to launch we detoured to look at a place Eric wants to develop into a new HG launch, along the northwest-facing wall at the back of PG ridge. About 2 we went out and set up. Eric was off firrst, struggled a bit after his cycle shut down completely, but squeaked over to PG ridge and finally found a bit of lift that got him up and over the back, where he boated around the valley for a while and landed in the meadows after an hour or so.
I waited through some stronger, more northerly cycles and finally (with a lot of wire help from Raf) got launched, but didn't find much along the way and ended up with a slightly-extended sledder to the bailout LZ for about 10 minutes. Still, it was my first flight since November, in which I broke my glider, harness and reserve all in one landing accident, so I was glad to be in the air and to have a safe flight to get back in.
Big thanks to Raf for giving up a perfectly good flying day to drive for us.
