Santa Cruz Flats for paragliders!!!

Post by azwyatt » Tue Aug 13, 2013 10:19 am

Hey everyone! I've been considering doing a paraglider division of the Santa Cruz Flats race for some time, and I'd like to do a 'dry run' this year on the second weekend (September 20-21) of the event. I asked Dustin Martin and he said the more the merrier, so we're good to go there. I figured I'd draw some SAHGA folks if I placed it in Eloy, so that's where it will be. Not to mention Eloy has some REAL sweet XC route potential!

John Wolfe has agreed to do the scoring, and I've spent many hours developing really exciting routes. We have 40+ mile routes in basically every direction but SW! So this year is just going to be a friendly competition, no entry fee or prizes, just a very reasonable fee for tows and retrieve. We're going to do 10 pilots max and only one tow rig. I eventually want to make this a national, week-long competition to parallel the HG comp by the same name. Be there for the exciting, historical beginning of what could end up being a huge event!
