Started hiking at 4PM. Arrived top of Box 6PM. The trail is lost. Completely overgrown. Occasionally I would see a cairn built by Lew Smith 25 years ago, but otherwise it was bushwhacking.

Ross lost his K9 companion of the last decade, Charlotte, yesterday. He buried her in the desert with a view of Box. He wisely decided not to fly and did some kiting in the LZ.

Chris and Alan hiked up to the first knoll and had extended sledders.

I stepped off the west launch at 6:30PM into perfect P2 conditions - straight in, smooth, consistent, light. I was able to maintain 100' over launch for a little while by scratching over the spine. When my toes were dragging through the tree tops, I headed to the LZ and arrived with enough altitude to do two big downwind-base-final loops over the LZ. I landed between cows at 7:10PM.

A perfect day to return to flight.

Welcome back, Scott. The trail up the back side is in much better shape -- just need a driver.
Ross, I'll always think of Charlotte, and that photo you posted of the two you, every time I fly Box.
I look forward to seeing you both in the air soon.
