Early Warning - Tues. Glass Off

Post by Gunter » Mon May 17, 2004 8:27 pm

Depending on what tomorrow mornings weather predictions will be, it looks like there may be a chance for glass off Tuesday around 6pm. It may be the only chance to fly this week. Presently winds are predicted SW at 10mph. Gunter

Tues. Glass Off

Well, it's Tues 2pm, and it looks good for 6pm glass off. I'll be in the LZ at 5pm, hoping to be in the air just after 6. Winds are expected to be WSW @ 9mph at 6pm then 8mph at 7pm (which should be around 15 mph at the lower launch. Hope to see you there. Gunter

Glass Off report

Post by Gunter » Tue May 18, 2004 9:53 pm

I got to the lower launch by 6pm. Winds were strong, 12 to 16mph. Went to a lower launch (100ft) below the normal launch. Launched at 6:30 pm and benched up in the SW side. Got up to about 6500 ft and then put it into the cruise mode. I flew forward (W) at between 3 to 5 mph without speed bar until I got well past the road by the LZ. After doing my usual wing-overs I landed at around 7:05 pm. It was a fantastic, smooth flight into the sunset. Sorry you all missed it. Gunter
