Anyone interested in taking a shot at Miller? Dodging monsoonal rains, CU-Nim OD, Zues' lightning bolts, local flooding and mudslides and all of the other seasonal risks of Arizona HG/PG?
Sounds like fun to me. I'm thinking of leaving Tucson around 7 AM, Miller LZ at 8:30, subject to an early-morning weather check.
The cell is (520) 444 8105, and I'll be monitoring 151.925.

Miller Sat
When you put it that way how could any one local resist?
Since I will be out of town. I will take a rain check. I am sure there will be plenty to go around later.
I will be in Silver city, raising the roof on Hans house. I hope the lightning spares us.

Miller Saturday report
I picked up Orrin Smith on my way to meet Pav Dygas and Guido in the Miller LZ. This was to be Guido's last day in Tucson and he was anxious to fly Miller, which he hadn't done yet.
It was actually looking pretty good when we got to the launch, blowing straight in from 8-10, sometimes more and occasionally less. It was clear overhead but clearly monsoonal and we were interested in getting away early before it ODed.
Pav and Guido decided to PG the southeast launch (!) so Guido set up first, and with Pav's advice and help got successfully launched. He struggled briefly with around launch level and then got up several hundred over. Pav followed him off shortly after, and also got up pretty quickly.
Orrin was next, good launch but almost sunk out since it was early, only about 11:15. He finally clawed his way back up and over, at which time I took off to join them.
Pav, Guido and I all had flights of 30-60 minutes before landing in the LZ. Orrin hung out over Carr peak while we retrieved the truck (no driver) and reported he was headed out XC as it started to OD pretty severely over Miller/Carr. Unfortunately the valley wasn't quite there yet, and he only made it as far as the wastewater treatment plant on Fry Blvd. and Moson Road.
When I arrived to retrieve him he was talking with an old-time SAHGA member Jim Lindsey who lives in Sierra Vista. Jim is no longer hang gliding but has been checking out the powered ultralight scene and has a wing hangared at the Sierra Vista airport.
We talked for a while but it was getting ready to rain, so Orrin and I loaded up and left for Tucson.
Nice day. Guido finally got his Miller PG flight before having to leave town. Pav got his first Miller PG flight since returning from his pelvis injury. And Orrin and I got enjoyable HG flights. As we drove home it rained cats and dogs, a typical monsoonal day in southern Arizona.
