New joiner to SAHGA and USA needs first PG flight

Post by pcashman » Sat Jul 17, 2004 2:41 pm

Hi all,

I have just moved to Tucson from the UK and I am in need of some para-therapy. I have joined the USHGA and SAHGA (not got SAHA card back yet) and I am anxious to get my first flight in!

I live in NE Tucson, near the Catalina Highway. From what I can tell BOX is probably the neraest place.

Is there anyone willing to show me the ropes? I fly an APCO Futura32, I have 120 hours but I have not flown for a year.

All offers gratefully received, 203 8412

Hi and welcome to Tucson. My name is Ross and Im the SAHGA's president. I too am a PG pilot and I believe you will find Tucson a challenging and hopefully rewarding place to fly. Call me on my cell at 490-3333 and I'l fill you in on details. Ross

Pablo,

Welcome to town. Thanks for joining SAHGA. We don't have membership cards, as we're a pretty small group and we all know each other. Instead, your name and pertinent info will get emblazoned on our roster, and you'll begin to receive our monthly newsletter. However, I've been out of town for the last few weeks and haven't gotten to these things in a while. I'll be back in town shortly.

Box may be the closest LZ, but where we fly around here is more dependent on the weather than which site is the closest. Fortunately, we have sites for almost any wind direction (but not velocity).

There are a few of us who live on the NE side of town, so welcome! You'll definately want to hook up with a local before attempting any of our sites. They're big, rugged, dangerous... and offer some of the best flying you'll find anywhere. Keep tabs on this forum for when people are going out to fly.
