Ready to join the Tucson crowd

I have been flying for the past couple years with a group of pilots from Phoenix. They're a great group of guys, but the drive to Flagstaff is getting old (and gas is expensive :D )

I would like to get involved with SAHGA and meet / fly with some local pilots!

Hi, and welcome.

Do you fly HG, PG or both? Either way, it's always nice to see a new pilot in the club. How long have you been doing the trek up north? That's a hard way to get airtime.

We're mostly weekenders, although there's a few weekday PG pilots. Watch this message board for flying plans, and please feel free to post when you're headed north - you may find someone wants to share the ride and gas expense.

The next SAHGA meeting is at 7:30 on Tuesday, August 10th. We meet at the Pizza Hut at 2943 N. Campbell (about a half-mile north of Grant). If you can make it please consider joining us.

Hope to see you out flying soon,

John

Thanks for welcoming me!

I fly HG. I wouldn't mind learning PG down the road, but my first love will always be HG. I actually started flying August 2000. But I was on hiatus between July 2001 and June 2003. I've been steadily flying since June 2003 now. I am so happy to be back in the air! During the winter months, I aero-tow out of Coolidge. Other than towing, the only sites I've flown have been the craters and recently Point of the Mountain. I am looking forward to learning the challenges and joys of flying new sites while racking up some experience and air-time. I am hoping to get Mingus and Miller under my belt by the end of the year. Miller is only 3 hours closer than the craters for me :)

I plan to attend the next SAHGA meetimg!

Thanks,
Justin

email me and I will give you a list of the sites I have flown or seen flown or heard of flying at in AZ. Actually there are many many sites near you and closer than Flagstaff. If you have a driver/witness the number of out of the way sites you can fly increases dramatically. Hiking increases your odds of flying also...as well as your life expectancy.

New to Tucson

Hi, Just got to Tucson at the beginning of July and just beginning to have some time to focus on my greatest passion! I am a P3 paragliding pilot although I have not paraglided in in about a year. Since I was living in Dallas, I got into paramotoring and just got my basic flight instructor rating (BFI), so that I can give 'introductory lessons'... I look forward to meeting you all and enjoying some awesome paragliding!

Best,

Alberto

Hello "slinger"!

Below is what I recently posted at the www.ahga.org forum, perhaps you are interested.

On any account, upcurrents and tailwinds to you.

I would like to offer my assistance in driving (*cross country?), launch preparation and photography in exchange for your inviting me along to witness your flight. My interest lies in the fact that I want to help you fly and be around paragliders (they are so cool) re-introduce myself to Phoenix area paraglider pilots and help myself understand what your experiences are here (Shaw Butte, South Mountain, hike to sites, and any flying in AZ, etc.) in order to educate myself while I save for my own equipment.

I am a paraglider pilot myself (a couple of hours airtime) but have only foot launched at Merium and Sheba Crators and extensive tow launch experience at various sites, all of many years ago.

In short, I want to expand my circle of friends in this aspect of flight. I offer you my knowledge of foot launch soaring for many years in Arizona, my friendly demeanor, sarcasm and intense interest in paragliding and if you are interested in kite surfing, I have a full quiver of foils. I would be more than pleased to introduce you to this aspect.

Please feel free to e-mail me at: hangwind@earthlink.net or phone at 602 684-2271 (mobile) or leave a private message below.

Thank you and best regards,

adam trahan

* I am a MASTER rated driver with experience of driving for world class hang glider pilots on cross country flights of over 100 miles. I know many tricks of this trade including producing thermals (got BTU's?) when needed, following you without radio contact, GPS navigation skills along with knowledge of ultra light foot launched flight and it's envelope here in AZ.
