Can I see the sites for PG this weekend?
Hi,
I am a Jpanese PG pilot. Now I am in Phoenix for business trip.
I don't bring my glider, but I want to see the sites.
My second job is writing for a Japanese PG magazine, so I want to introduce fling sites in southern Arizona to Japanese pilots.
Can I join you this weekend?

Bring your camera
Ryuta,
Bring your camera. Miller is a beautiful site. The Aspen trees might just be starting to turn their fabulous flourescent yellow color. You'll be standing atop a rugged cliff, with 9,500ft mountains behind you, and a wide open valley in front, 3000ft below.
With the southeast flow predicted, the flying is a sure thing. At least for the HGs. Possibly perfect, or possibly too strong for PGing.
I'm just dreaming, as I probably won't be able to make it this weekend.

Saturday flying
Miller's got that launchable-all-day look for Saturday, at least for the HG folks. Might get too string in the morning or too south in the afternoon for PG off the east launch, but I imagine it would be worth a try. Winds aloft makes it look soarable early.
Eric said he's planning on hitting the Miller LZ early, like around 8:30 AM. Leaving town at 7 (yawn).

missing another weekend of flight
Last weekend I was in the Wind River Range in western Wyoming, and this weekend I will be in the Posta Quemada canyon area of the Rincons. But the next three weekends I have off and maybe I can join you all flying then! Nice flying

sworn duty
Don't you all understand that if you get to experience airtime, that it is your sworn duty to recant the tale for others to live vicariously?
Miller
Miller was dynamite this weekend.
Visiting PG pilot Ryunta drove down from Phoenix to see the site, he got a long look..
The day started at my place at 0700 we loaded up, Dave and John,Allen and Stephen (tandem student) and Ryuta and I. We were to meet Ilker and Justin at the lz around 0830.
We loaded up in the lz all nine of us, two dad`s, Justins and Stephens came along as well. Conditions on launch were perfect! SE at 10 to 15mph, may be a little strong for PG. Since the wind velocity was predicted to decrease we were confident it was to be an excellant day!
John launched first climbing as he stepped off launch,. Dave was next he shot up off of launch in the bouyant air too several hundred feet over in my Falcon! Justin stepped up next and conditons eventually backed off a little for his first Miller launch. He immediatly climbed out to join Dave and John soaring above launch.
I filmed the launches and was able to get all but Allens launch on tape. Ryuta was kind enough to film our tandem launch and soaring passes on launch. ( which Stephen enjoyed seeing) What a great day!
I was up with Stephen for 35 minutes, turning and climbing, unfortuneately his harness positon was making him uncomfortable. So we elected to go land.
John stayed up for an hour and Justin soared for close to that. I could tell by the grin on Dave`s face on landing he was having a good time.
We all watched Allen land last with a nice no stepper!
O yah, Ilker finally flew we saw him out over the lz quite high, I don`t think he was up long as it was a lifty day. He hovered in to land in the 10 to 15 mph wind in the lz.
Wait that`s not all!
After packing up conditons still looked good!
You guessed it we headed up for the mythical Miller glass off!
John and I set up and launched into a light SE breeze we climbed to several hundred over and played in the glass smooth air for an hour.
I celebrated by swooping launch at 50 mph in the ultrasport and winging up and away back into the smooth lift. O did I mention how smoooooth the air was? There were some small thermals to work as well soo.. I won`t torture you more..
All this time Iliker was trying to launch from the Se ramp with like three people holding his chute up.. he finally gave up and rode down the hill. The wind was so light that it would not lift his canopy! Something about a rock cutting his canopy, ended his attempts.
Actually I flew for one hour and one minute and John flew for one hour, the last minute of my flight was by far the most enjoyable one ,now that I think about It!
It`s good to be King!!
