Sunday PM for Scott

Post by Scott » Fri Oct 22, 2004 9:52 pm

I'm hoping for a late afternoon flight at Mustang on Sunday. I'll be hucking lots of newbies off if conditions are appropriate. Check back Sunday morning for an update.

That sounds great :D
Unfortunately, Ray has to be on a plane heading out East on Sunday morning  But, I should be free.

It looks like Gunter and others are flying the Mustangs today (sat afternoon)...I think we'll try to meet them out there and play if the conditions are good for newbies. Hope to see you there.

Sunset is at 5:30.

Last launch or begin hike down at 4:30.

Arrive LZ no later than 2:30.

Depart Tucson around 1 PM. I'm all for carpooling. Who's going down?

Winds aloft for this PM:

FOR USE 2100-0600Z.

6000 2409+15
9000 2212+07
12000 2031+00

Good direction for Mustang, but the velocities look a little strong to me.

I'm all for going down to the Mustangs and learning new info...but i don't know if my knees can take that hike 2 days in a row.

do you recommend i go & kite in the LZ? if that's the case, i don't mind carpooling.

otherwise, i might just catch you on the next time :( sorry, but i want to keep my real knees as long as i can

Scott, please let me know what your opinion is.

Come Kite

Post by Scott » Sun Oct 24, 2004 12:55 pm

Yes. Come with us and kite in the LZ. If the winds are strong like yesterday, that may be all we do anyway.

Meeting Mark at the Waffle House on the west side of the I-10 at 22nd street at 1:30.

My cell 909-1627.

Mark's cell 370-9044.

It was fabulous. Allan, Sherry, and Mark kited in the LZ from 2:30ish to sunset in very nice (for So.AZ) winds. I hung in the LZ for a while, then hiked up solo for a 4:45PM launch into perfect launch conditions. Super smooth float around conditions. Winds were strong and SW aloft. With brakes off and no speed bar, I just barely inched forward. Would zoom over to the biscuit, then creep back to launch. Landed right at sunset, 5:30ish.
