As of Sat. evening, Box looks good for Sunday afternoon. Any one else interested besides me?
I will post again in the am to see what morning projections are.

Well, it looks like Box could be good. I'm planning on being in the LZ at 12 noon, at the lower launch by 1pm and flying with the eagles by 1:30pm. The wind in GV are expected to be 7 mph -SW then by 3 pm 9 mph -W. Let's go flying!

Box Flying Report

Well, it was one of those iffy days. As I was hiking up around 1:00 pm it was really starting to blow strong up the slope. I certainly was not going to launch under those conditions. I decided to take a look at the lowest west launch and hiked around the corner. It was still strong but doable. The problem was that the wind had now switched back to the North. So I hiked back toward the trail and upward checking out possible NW facing launch sites below the top. I think I found one that would work great with minor pruning. I hiked up to the lower N launch and set up, waiting for a mild cycle. Good launch and up I went. It was lifty all over the bowl. Originally I stayed below 6K keeping an eye on my forward progress on the GPS. My slowest forward speed was aroung 4mph wo speed bar. I figured it was safe. My max alt. was 6600', max climb was +500, max sink-700. I flew for 35 min. I decided to come down since conditions seemed to be getting slightly stronger, and it was getting rougher. Valley winds were around 10mph, and the winds over the top were between 18 and 20 mph. It was still a good flight. I think the conditions were perfect for HG's.
