I want to fly Miller but the winds look more like Box.

Possibly, just possibly...
PG at the Mustangs.

As of 3pm Friday: Intellicast, NWS, and ADDS are all still calling light SW right up through 9Kft. Sunny and cool. Still looking like it could be the 'stangs day we've been waiting for!

By the way Eric- congrats on your Lemmon flight yesterday- too cool for words.

Miller looks good on Sunday.
Alas, the sonotia valley is probably the only place to fly on Sat. In less you want to drive to Oatmen?
I will go to the training hill in the morning and may be some place in the afternoon.
So far the weather service is off on the direction. With two lows wandering around it`s anyones best guess on how much rain we may get.

I will be in the area on Saturday looking to do some flying. If anyone makes any definate plans I would love the oportunity to tag along. I may also be bringing a friend down from Prescott who has yet to take a flight in AZ and I am hoping to show him a good day. I have tenative plans to fly S. Mt. with Ilker in the morning.

Please let me know if you are headed out.

We'll for what it's worth, here's how I see it.

Green Valley (Box) will be light, 4-5mph out of the ESE/ENE/NNE. To easterly.

Sonoita (Mustangs), will be S/SSW at 7-8 mph in the Valley. To southerly.

Sierra Vista (Miller) SE/SSE/S 6-7 mph. Could be doable if you get there before it turns S at noon.

Tucson (A mountain) SE 6mph till noon, then E. Need a permit/card to fly.

As for me I'm staying home and catching up on my "To Do" list.

Morey, I'd like to join you, but I need to be home by 4:30 pm. Can you tell me the address for you're weather info? I can't understand how the info you get and I get are so far apart. Thanks Gunter

By the way, I read it that tomorrow will be blown out everywhere, at least for PG's.

Am at the library on a research project, don't know the sites but am willing to listen and take direction fairly well-hittting the stacks for a bit will check back here in a bit..if we don't hook up-clear well & have fun!

Winds were exactly as predicted. Jerry and I got to launch around 2pm, and it was blowing in lightly (5G10) from the SW. Jerry did this reasonably well executed sideways running launch at about 2:15 in a NWerly cross cycle pumping 10-12- worked low for a while then got above launch. I had a touch and go launch (i.e I touched down a couple times in run) in a 10mph smooth and straighter cycle- and went straight up.

The sun stayed mostly behind the high clouds, so the thermal activity was minimal. Mostly ridgelifty with an occasional 300+ up on the averager. I cored one or two up to 7kft, about a thou' over. Mostly nice Mustang boating. I'd put it about a 2 on the 1 to 10 turbulence scale.

Jerry dove for the LZ after about 40 min, I think because the jeans he was wearing were a little thin for the 50F temps. I was cozy warm in my fuzzy layers and flight suit, but a sink cycle nabbed me as I was coming back a bit low from the Biscuitt, and that was all she wrote. 50min, and I wanted more. The sun had just come out and was already cooking off some bubbles over the low-lands, but nothing I could work. A Gunter/Pav/Fred/Ross type probably would have been able to use'm.

Irena, Chaz and Shadow showed up a bit later. Irena had a nice launch and short flight at about 4pm. The winds, however, were getting lighter and lighter, just as the soundings predicted so by the time Chaz was ready, it was too light. He made a couple of valiant attempts at launching. We could see the canopy inflated and Chaz running down the hill, but not enough lift to get him airborne. Darn. Another walk down. Chaz's second in 3 days. Sorry Chaz- we were all rootin' for ya'. However, Shadow enjoyed an opportunity to run back up the hill for the second time today.

This was my first soaring flight in a PG...it was a lot of fun in ridge lift! Morey thanks for the help launching.

I had enough time to practice lots of turns slow, fast, flat, not so flat but no wingovers yet. After Morey launched and flew over to the biscuitt I finally tried to fly over there and was at least 500 over the top of it.

I did get cold so decided it was time to land, I flew a standard pattern and then did another circle just because there was a barbwire fence at the end of my runway. I did a nice no-step standup landing and even have it on video thanks to Norene. Morey's landing was the best one of the day.
All in all a very nice Saturday (if I forget the hike up).
