Whetstones- Saturday Dec 4th

Post by morey » Thu Dec 02, 2004 10:45 pm

Looks like we'll be getting our money's worth out of the Whetstones this year. Another perfect 'stones day is shaping up for Saturday. We'll see as we get closer.

Who's gonna' join Eric and I?

Eric, while I wasn't 'sure' you were going- You did tell me on Wednesday night that you wanted to.

I think Mike will. He would like to fly his Talon. I`ll call him.
The weather forecast I was looking at seemed to indicate that the wind was peaking early. When would you like to leave town?

Joining the fun

I'd like to join in on Saturday. I'll be coming from Sierra Vista so just let me know where the best place to meet you all is at.

I'm also free for the whole day today(Friday) so if anyone is going out today I'll join in on that too.

Clayton (New p2 guy looking for lots of advice) :D

ZClayman,

I'm looking at Friday morning weather predictions- so all this could be wrong come tomorrow morning... but:

It is looking to be a HG type day at the Whetstones. Predicted winds in the 15-20 range, with higher gusts, will likely make Saturday afternoon blown out for a PG.

It's possible that Saturday morning might be paraglideable from the Mustang Mountains (also in the Sonoita valley just south of the Whetstones, and right near Elgin, AZ.) Nobody has yet posted their PG interest. Or, with the little bit of low level forcing, it may even be soarable tomorrow before noon at 'A' mountain in Tucson.

Pav has launched the Stones on several occasions and joined the Hang gliders. He is a very experienced bag winger.
While I was kidding about you knowing my intentions Morey. Something has come up early Sat morning. I am trying to get loose for Sat. What about Houghton and the Freeway at 1030? That puts us at the Whetstones at 12 and may be launching by 1?

Getting to know now

Thanks for the info Morey. I had a feeling that you all were talking about HG, but I wasn't quite sure. I'll stay tuned to the message board and maybe some PG interest will surface. Thanks again.

dreary and raining at my place

Post by morey » Sat Dec 04, 2004 10:06 am

Well, at 9:45 am, it's dreary and raining at my place. While the winds aloft forcast still looks perfect for this afternoon, it's hard for me to get motivated to fly in the rain.

Just spoke with Eric, and he tends to agree. Doesn't look like a pretty day, and we're both inclined to spend quality time with our families.

Sorry guys.
