Needed: low-cost gear

I got this email from Red at http://www.xmission.com/~red/. He's one of several pilots trying to help out a new Indian (subcontinent) pilot in an on-going project on the yahoo groups mailing list http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HangGlide ... ndows-1252. They're searching for a harness, chute and helmet suitable for a 5'3" 115 lb. pilot.

Please send replies to red@xmission.com, or post here.

Hi, John

Got two offers to help, so far, but nothing real, yet. I'm just tryin' to help a guy out... :-) I'm guessing SAHGA is Southern Arizona?

Maybe you have followed the adventures of Samarth, in India. We got him talked out of flying his home-made HG (actually a pretty-fair attempt, however deadly), and now he has obtained a certified glider, a Solar Wings Breeze from the UK (about five years old). I guess there is really no stopping the guy, and it's not my place to do that, anyway. He still needs a safe harness, parachute and helmet. He has contact with a HG pilot from India, who will be returning there soon, but passing through Arizona, enroute.

If you are willing to help:

I was hoping to find Samarth some decent gear in the USA. It would certainly be better than anything he can buy there. Used and relatively worthless gear here would be rather valuable, there.

Whatever he gets, India's ridiculous import duties and shipping costs will probably double the price, to him.

If you can locate an extra-small harness, helmet, and/or parachute for sale in Arizona, I would be glad to take it from there.

If you have access to the Arizona HG club forums, they may have want-ads on their web site. Maybe somebody could ask for gear, on that forum; I can't post there. My first preference for Samarth would be a cocoon, or even a soft pod (no backframe) harness. Still, anything you find would be a boon, to him. All I am asking for is the email address or phone number of the seller(s).

Samarth is 5'3" and 115 lbs.

Thanks in advance, for any help.

I have some used equipment, donated to me by Rob Hughes' former wife. I sent Red an email about it.
