I didn't go today, but Eric says that everybody flew and it was still launchable when they left. I didn't thing the launch winds forecast looked that good, but you never know unless you show up.
Tomorrow is predicted SE 5-10 all day at launch altitudes for Miller. Should be good.

Sat was easterly an light winds, nice day to fly.
Orrin flew for two hours!
Whitney an I got a good tandem in. Tucker soared with Orrin for a while, Rackel drove for us, thank you!
Sunday was soarable most of the day, we left around 2 an it was still good!
My last tandem student an I got above launch an soared around over the eastface near the LZ.
Douglas came out an helped with my students ( 3) an John flew I saw him high over the reef! Thanks for your help guys!
Debbie an Raf showed up around 1030 an gave me a ride up from the LZ for round two.Thanks guys!
Raf flew his Falcon an got a elevator ride off launch!

I'm glad you guys had a great weekend down there.
Five of us flew Oatman yesterday, but I think we launched just a bit too early, starting around noon. I got lucky and got up and away, eventually landing about six miles north of Tonapah. The best climb of the day was 6K of gain in butter-smooth 900 fpm lift directly over a solar farm. Something to keep in mind should you fly that route.

Re: Miller this week
Conditions at Miller were ok, but a little strange. Very low cloud base, maybe the top 800' of Miller was invisible the whole day. Maybe due to rains the night before. The winds were a little strong at times, but a good direction for HG, straight in on the SE ramp. For PG, well, you made a good call there.
Rafael and I both flew, but by the time I went it had turned south and I found the canyon turbulent and unpleasant at times. I was never able to work a thermal higher than about 1000 over launch. There were strong enough but they just seemed to break up and become impossible to track, at least at my skill level. The valley wasn't really working at that time so after flying out in search of smoother lift it was kind of a losing battle staying up. I think Rafael and I both ended up with about 30 minutes each.
Eric managed to get three tandem lessons accomplished, Dave, Andrew and Martha, and on the last one with Martha even managed to soar above launch a little.
As always we relied heavily on help from our wire and driver help. Thanks, Debbie and Doug!
