There are also plans here: http://www.sahga.com/useful.html, at least for the HG version.
But it's nice to buy them all made up.
Hey, Dr. Telemark, how bout a link to your eBay store?

Re: Who is Dr. Telemark?
A long whip is a major improvement over the stock rubber ducky antennas. I use a 5/8 wave collapsable whip to talk to drivers when on the ground away from the LZ, and the difference is night and day. In the air I use a 1/4 wave made from coax with the center conductor up my hang strap and the braid ...

Free Coronado National Forest road maps
These things are huge, and have not only the forest roads we use, but a lot of them I had no idea even existed. There are separate maps for different forest units - Catalina/Rincon, Nogales/Sierra Vista, Safford and Douglas. The online versions of the maps split Nogales/Sierra Vista into eastern and...

No access yet. But Eric spoke with Duane, who said that the only major impediment to reopening the road is the need to rebuild the fence around the falls to keep drunk rednecks from falling off the damned thing (I added that last part). He (Duane) reports the road is passable, if narrow in spots but...

Re: web site update
John, The FSL page is pretty nerdy, and for neophytes needs some explanation and suggested settings along with the link. TUS is the obvious choice for the sounding, and 8 hours for a morning forecast. but which model do you usually use? NAM? or something shorter-term? The tutorial links on the page ...

RGSA Columbus Day fly-in October 7th-10th Alamogordo, NM.
Robin Hastings of the Rio Grande Soaring Association asked that I pass along that they will be having their Columbus Day Adventure fly-in from October 7 to 10, at Dry Canyon in Alamogordo, NM. If you've never been there, it's a big southwest-facing site (the prevailing wind direction!) just east of ...

Soaring Predictor for southern Arizona sites
I've always admired the Soaring Predictor page for Mingus Mountain, both for convenience and what seems like good accuracy. So I asked the owner to add our southern Arizona sites. Ask and ye shall receive: http://www.soaringpredictor.info/phoenix/PhoenixPredictor.htm I'll get the web site updated to...

Re: Miller Launch
What Andy said. Damn. The Coronado NF website at http://www.fs.fed.us/r3/coronado/RemainingClosuresJuly2011.htm still says August 20th, so today I called the USFS Sierra Vista office to ask about that. The person who answered (said she was reading from notes) said that Ash, Miller and the lower part...
